This was my first attempt at any kind of Ultra marathon and the experience was by far my favourite running experience. This was down to the excellent team organising and amazing volunteers.
We were well informed of what was to come and provided with humour to help navigate through the hours. The scenery around the route was top notch, plenty of sea views and a set of Olympic rings.

Bustinskin always do it the best !!
2nd year in a row doing this. 2nd year I loved it. Highly recommended for anyone wanting to test themselves in this format. See you again for year 3.

Test yourself
Highly enjoyable well run event, my third year competing on the trot. The course is tough underfoot and enough elevation to challenge you, would highly recommended giving it a try.

Fantastic race
I’ve followed this event every year, always telling myself I’d take part “next time.” This year, with my best friend signing up, I finally joined in-and I’m so glad I did.
I reached 7 yards, which is a personal best for me, and the experience was incredible from start to finish. The atmosphere was truly outstanding and made the whole event unforgettable. I’ll definitely be signing up again next year! Thank you for putting on such a fantastic race!

Great BYU event
This is my third year doing the event and loved it every year. The new route was fine too. The elevation isn’t excessive and is actually better on this one. Marshals are great. My only criticism is there are no showers but I believe it’s not easy to have that sort of set up for this event. I will be back again next year
Excellently enjoyable experience. Great people, great place, great pompoms.
Four days on, I’ve recovered my faculties sufficiently to write this review of such a wonderful race weekend. Many thanks to the organisers, volunteers and supporters for everything.
Weather was a roaster, but it’s all about the pacing. Everyone deserves the benefits of doing the Portland Pig as a runner or supporter.
BYU is where best to practise all the good “self”s: self-actualisation, self-indulgence, self-management, self-optimisation, self-reliance, of course Self-Transcendence ... and more. Portland Pig is particularly suited to all these.
Sign up, show up, step up. Until you try, you don’t know how good it can be or how far you can go. And you can always go further than you think you might. Just one more lap ...
See you there on 1st May 2026.

Fantastic location/format/organisation/everything
Perfect event for all runnners to get a PB
Outstanding
It was my first time doing this format and the whole team behind were superb! The level of encouragement, support from marshals and just overall super good vibes was incredible.
The course has a bit of everything and the scenery is super cool.
I have already signed up for next year...that says it all!
Thanks very much to the organisers and attendees, felt very welcome and had a constant smile on my face!

Marshaling
Absolutely amazing weekend marshaling, helping with the event. Although I was not doing the event as in running, just being a part of it was just amazing! I couldn't recommend it enough to anyone who either wants to take part or help. Best weekend ever

Everyone should give it a go!
I wanted a new running experience and I got it - the backyard ultra...
The weather was on our side (in my opinion) and make the scenery on the run breath taking. Thought it would be hillier than it was so made it doable for all levels of runners. Support was great out of course from the Marshalls and general public and when getting back to the main event site.
But what made it for me was all the other competitors - everyone was so friendly. Being at the event on my own it made the day wizz by having people around me to talk to and enjoy the event with. Will certainly be back

Challenging, but fantastically good fun.
This year was my second year at the Portland Pig BYU and I've already booked on for 2026. Why? It's a challenging route that needs to be conquered and the event is run superbly. Very well organized and excellent value for money and it looks like it's rather addictive too! The heat did me in this time, but me and my wingman stayed until the end to see the winner crowned. Very inspiring.

Great event. Great organisers.
Organised superbly with a big emphasis on fun whilst celebrating and pushing for excellence. My crew was delighted with the set up as well (almost as important as anything else) the pitches are organised really well with set space for everyone. See you next year!
